REESEVILLE PUBLIC LIBRARY

  1. All library users:
  1. Noise must be kept at a level so that others will not be disturbed.
  2. Smoking or alcoholic beverages are notallowed inside the library building or on the steps or entry ramp.
  3. Food and nonalcoholic beverages are not allowed at the computer workstations. They may be allowed in certain areas at the staff discretion.
  4. All cell phones must be set to mute or vibrate or turned off.
  5. Shirts and shoes are required; bathing suits, roller blades, scooters and roller skates are not allowed.
  6. Each computer workstation should be occupied by no more than two people at a time.   Exceptions can be made for sanctioned group projects.
  7. Persons whose mannerisms or methods of personal conduct or personal hygiene would be disturbing to other library patrons shall be asked to leave.
  8. To ensure the safety of patrons and compliance with fire codes, bicycles and other sporting equipment shall be left in a designated area which does not block an exit.
  9. Soliciting is not allowed except for library-sponsored activities.
  10. The library is not responsible for items lost, damaged, or stolen on library property.

II.  Children:

  1. A parent or caregiver must supervise all children under six years old.
  2. Children age seven and older may use the library unattended as long as they adhere to the rules of the library.
  3. The library will not assume responsibility for children left unattended on library premises.

III.  Inappropriate Behavior

Patrons who display inappropriate behavior will be warned and may be asked to leave the premises. Such behavior includes but is not limited to: 

  • littering, rudeness or profanity
  • an activity which disturbs others
  • theft or damage to building, equipment or furnishings

Failure to leave the premises upon the request of a staff member may lead to the intervention of local law enforcement.  A written report of the patron’s inappropriate behavior will be submitted to the Library Director by the staff or volunteer working the desk when the incident occurred.  The Library Director, acting on behalf of the Board of Trustees, may suspend the library privileges of any individual who willfully violates library regulations when the severity or continued reoccurrence warrants such action (Wisconsin Statutes 43.52).  The person whose library privileges are suspended shall be advised that the suspension may be appealed at the next regularly scheduled Library Board of Trustees meeting.
